New Features For Telegram

Telegram a freeware, crossed platform cloud-based instant messaging service. Which provides video calling, file sharing and several other features. I will take you through the journey of how my team and I discovered these new features for Telegram. We all came together under the Side hustle internship program for a boot camp that aims at impacting more knowledge and adding values to the lives of individuals who are connecting to the tech world. Task were assigned to each team and my team decided to set up Google meeting to brainstorm on the product to work on. During the meeting one of the members of my team talked about Telegram and how the app should be doing more than its already doing. After the meeting we decided to carry out a survey using questionnaires to empathize with users to gain real insights into their needs. A market survey was conducted using google form, were a total of 62 responses were received. 36 respondents were rare users while 22 respondents were active users. Most of the respondents use Telegram as a tool for learning while others use for business and chatting purposes. Respondents talked about the features they like in the app. The fact that you an communicate with ease, the large number of people that can be added to groups, and the ability to view old messages. Respondents also talked about the problems they encountered using the app. From not being able to download a file outside the app itself. To notification of new contact joining the app, no video conferencing call, and deletion of account after six months of not logging into the app. My team mates and I generated solutions to fix this problem by using SCAMPER. We decided to add new features like none deleting of account after 6 months of absence, downloading outside the Telegram app, video conferencing call. User personas were created on which the user flow was improved on using miro tool. We also created a prototype of the new features using the whimsical tool. We faced some challenges as a team, our board was deleted by mistake, we had to create another one. We were also finding it difficult to test the prototype that was created. So we had to create a new survey to get feedback on the new features that were added.
It was indeed a challenging and an insightful week, we learnt and unlearnt certain things as a team. Next week promises to be more challenging than this week, I hope to engage you all as I am doing now. Bye for now.
